Position Summary

NCJW seeks a Director of People and Culture to play a pivotal role in shaping and fostering the organizational culture at NCJW. This senior leadership position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract, develop, and retain a diverse and talented and growing national workforce. The Director will work closely with executive leadership to align human resources practices with NCJW’s mission and values, ensuring a positive and inclusive workplace where every member of the organization can thrive. They will be values-driven, agile, curious, and foster an environment of joy and collaboration while amplifying the voices of change-makers across the country. They will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Primary Responsibilities

Culture Development

  • Develop and champion initiatives that reinforce and enhance NCJW’s organizational culture.
  • Foster an inclusive and equitable workplace environment that values diversity and promotes collaboration.
  • Regularly update and disseminate NCJW’s Employee Manual to reflect the policies of the organization and expectations of staff.

Talent Acquisition and Development

  • Lead recruitment efforts to attract top talent that aligns with NCJW’s mission and values.
  • Design and implement professional development programs to nurture the growth and skills of employees.
  • Create, oversee, and execute an onboarding process for new employees.

Employee Engagement

  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Implement feedback mechanisms to assess and respond to the needs of the workforce.

Performance Management

  • Oversee performance management processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Provide guidance to managers on employee performance, coaching, and development.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Drive initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.
  • Collaborate with leadership to implement policies that foster a fair and respectful workplace.

Employee Relations

  • Address employee relations issues promptly and effectively, promoting a positive work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.

  • Manage and continuously improve the organization’s benefits and compensation programs.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to remain competitive.

Key Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in human resources leadership, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Strong understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of relevant employment laws and regulations.

Salary and Benefits

Salary range: $120,000-$150,000 — commensurate with experience

Paid Federal and Jewish Holidays.
