Supreme Court to Hear Direct Challenge to Roe v. Wade

“The Supreme Court just announced it is taking on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which will determine the future of Mississippi’s abortion ban and is a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade. There is no way to uphold this law without overturning Roe.

“The Constitution gives us the right to have abortions. Judaism permits abortion. Mississippi’s abortion ban should be thrown out immediately and we are outraged that the Supreme Court decided to take up this case.

“Abortion is health care and we should be expanding access at this time, not cutting vulnerable people off from critical care. National Council of Jewish Women advocates will not stop our work to ensure that every single person can make their own moral and faith-informed decisions about their body, health, and future. Our Jewish values compel us to support full access to safe and legal abortion care as basic health care.”

National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is a grassroots organization of 180,000 volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms. Through a program of education, community service, education, and advocacy, our advocates across the country create lasting social change on our key issues of the federal courts; reproductive health, rights, and justice, and voter engagement.
