FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DREAM  and Secure Act Re-introduced in the Senate

Update as of March 26, 2019, Washington, DC – The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) applaud the reintroduction of the Dream Act by Senators Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Secure Act by Senators Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and Ben Cardin (D-MD). NCJW CEO Nancy K. Kaufman released the following statement:

“The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) applauds the Senate for introducing the Dream Act and Secure Act. The bills provide protection from deportation and a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers (young immigrants brought to the United States as children) and recipients of Temporary Protected Status and Deferred Enforced Departure. President Trump and his administration have attacked immigrants at every turn, and the Dream Act and Secure Act would enable our immigrant neighbors and community members to continue to build their lives in safety. NCJW urges the Senate to pass these bills as soon as possible.”

The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.
