National Council of Jewish Women to Participate in Roundtable Spotlighting Hamas’ Gender-based Violence Against Israeli Women with Rep. Wasserman Schultz, Second Gentleman Emhoff, Ambassador Herzog, Ambassador Lipstadt

WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, Feb. 14th, National Council of Jewish Women will join Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) for an event on Capitol Hill from 10:30 am to 12 pm to examine and raise awareness of the sexual and gender-based violence that Hamas perpetrated on October 7th and since then against Israeli women. NCJW CEO Sheila Katz will speak, alongside Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, Israeli Ambassador to the US Michael Herzog and Mrs. Shirin Herzog, Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt, Noa Tishby, as well as several Israeli and civil society officials.

Other Members of Congress plan to attend, including Reps. Susan Wild (D-PA), who sits on the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Lois Frankel (D-FL), who chairs the Democratic Women’s Caucus, and Kathy Manning (D-NC), who co-chairs the House Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism. Rep. Frankel will discuss her bipartisan Resolution to forcefully condemn Hamas’s use of rape and sexual violence as weapons of war, which is expected to come to a vote on the House floor this week. Representatives from Jewish Women International (JWI) and Hadassah will also speak.
