We Support Survivors

September 27, 2018, Washington, DC – The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) today expressed dismay at the actions of the Senate Judiciary Committee leadership. NCJW CEO Nancy K. Kaufman released the following statement:

“Today, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford showed strength and courage in what can only be described as an insensitive and ill-advised kangaroo court. If the Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee think it is acceptable to hire a prosecutor to publicly interrogate a survivor of sexual assault, they are mistaken. We agree with Senator Harris that Dr. Blasey Ford is a patriot and a “true profile in courage” and thank her for her service to this country. It is long past time to withdraw Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination. The mere fact that he is still in the running for this lifetime seat, even after Dr. Blasey Ford’s credible testimony, has sent a loud and clear message to the entire nation: this Republican Congress does not care about women.”

The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) is a grassroots organization of volunteers and advocates who turn progressive ideals into action. Inspired by Jewish values, NCJW strives for social justice by improving the quality of life for women, children, and families and by safeguarding individual rights and freedoms.
