NCJW Forward

NCJW Forward: Our five-year strategic vision for Jewish women who refuse to be sidelined

Since 1893, National Council of Jewish Women has shown what is possible when Jewish women refuse to be sidelined.

Now, we are building what comes next.

NCJW Forward is our five-year strategic vision for a stronger, more connected Jewish feminist movement — one built to create greater impact in communities across the country and in Israel.

Our goal is bold: Engage one million changemakers working to improve the lives of women, children, and families.

To get there, we are:

  • Aligning our advocacy around the issues where we can make the greatest difference.
  • Advancing a modern organizational model with stronger regional staffing, infrastructure, and support for local leadership.
  • Activating changemakers everywhere — with new opportunities to organize, learn, lead, and take action.

Our new approach builds on generations of local leadership, deep relationships, community service, and powerful advocacy that have made NCJW what it is today. We’re carrying the best of that legacy forward while sharpening our advocacy to four areas where we believe we can make real progress: demanding reproductive freedom, advancing economic opportunity, safeguarding civil rights, and fostering safer communities.

We’re shifting to a new grassroots organizing model that pairs local advocates with regional professional staff, bringing national policy and communications expertise — all in service of developing more local and national resources and power than ever before. We’re bringing people together in new ways, meeting changemakers in their communities: digitally and on the ground across the country. We’re creating local councils to lead this movement in communities, launching the NCJW Center for Leadership to equip longtime leaders and new advocates with the skills and networks to drive change, and developing new ways for people to take meaningful action — whether in a statehouse hearing room, a synagogue, or around your own kitchen table.

This is not change for change’s sake. It is a recommitment to the mission that has driven NCJW since Hannah G. Solomon was invited to organize a delegation of Jewish women at the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893. When she arrived, she was not given an opportunity to lead, but rather to serve coffee to the men in attendance. So she built something new: a place for Jewish women who refuse to be sidelined.

We are not just preparing for the next 130 years. We are shaping them.

Help build what comes next.

NCJW Forward is an investment in stronger advocacy, bolder leadership, and a Jewish feminist movement built for the future.

What comes next is only possible because of what generations of NCJW leaders and changemakers have already built. We honor that legacy not by standing still, but by carrying its spirit forward — with the same courage, conviction, and belief in what Jewish women can make possible.

Your support helps us develop leaders, organize communities, strengthen our advocacy, and give more people the tools to turn their values into action.
