Elissa Froman Inspiring Leadership Award 2020: Maddie Fireman

Maddie Fireman, NCJW New Orleans Section

Madelyn Fireman joined NCJW after begging the then-SPA, Michelle Erenberg, to give her policy work to do. Madelyn moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, after graduating from The Ohio State University. She participated in Avodah: The Jewish Service Corps, was an administrative assistant and LGBTQ outreach coordinator at Temple Sinai, and she now works two part-time jobs where she gets to teach and sing with children. She is the NCJW-New Orleans State Policy Advocate, a clinic escort for the New Orleans Abortion Fund, and a Child Life Volunteer at Ochsner Pediatric Hospital. Maddie is pursuing a master’s degree in Child Life, and she lives in uptown New Orleans with her sweet little dog and her wonderful wife, a nice Jewish doctor who is also named Maddie.
