Tell the Senate: Don’t Discriminate Against Women and Girls in Sports

Jewish text teaches us that all people are created in the image of God, b’tzelem Elohim. As a Jewish community, it is our obligation to work together to fulfill this vision by building a world where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive. However, extremist lawmakers and activists continue their attacks on the LGBTQ+ community in an effort to demonize them and erase them from our society.
The so-called Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025 (HR 28/S 9) would ban women and girls who are trans, nonbinary, and intersex from playing on women and girls’ sports teams in schools, no matter their age, sport, or level of competition.
This harmful legislation does not support women and girls as its name implies and does not address the longstanding barriers all girls and women have faced in their pursuit of athletics. Instead, the bill would enable the harmful and discriminatory exclusion of transgender, nonbinary, and intersex youth from athletics programs. Youth sports often play a critical role in children’s lives and development, helping them to develop life skills like communication, teamwork, and leadership. Congress should prioritize policies that include and support students so that they may flourish, instead of excluding them from their peers and undermining their rights to live and play freely.
Our Jewish movement will not stop fighting until all people are free to take charge of their lives, their bodies, and their futures. Reach out to your senators today and urge them to oppose this harmful legislation.
