Each year, thousands gather in Selma, Alabama to commemorate “Bloody Sunday,” which occurred in 1965 when 525 African-American demonstrators crossed the Edmund Pettus bridge demanding the right to vote.
On Sunday, March 9, we invite you to join National Council of Jewish Women and the Workers Circle for the 60th Bridge Crossing Anniversary. No matter what organization you may represent, or will travel to Alabama with, take part in our contingent crossing the bridge and demonstrating our support and solidarity as a Jewish community.
Together, we will:
- Gather at the historic Temple Mishkan Israel
- Connect with partners in the civil rights and democracy space
- Learn the stories of resilience and relationship that led to one of the most influential Civil Rights moments of our time.
- Participate in Sunday’s Jubilee events
- Cross the Edmund Pettus Bridge as one Jewish contingent.
