Tell Congress: Let’s Get America Back to Work

The American Jobs Plan proposed by President Biden on March 31 is a once-in-a-generation investment that aims to build a lasting economic recovery in the wake of COVID-19. The $2.25 trillion infrastructure plan — the first of two — focuses on transportation, caregiving, manufacturing, housing, schools, water, broadband, and the power grid. While the legislation has yet to be drafted, the plan aims to bolster our infrastructure and the care economy by updating the country’s physical and technological infrastructure, addressing long-standing economic inequities in the nation, and creating jobs. After years of underinvesting, Congress must make a bold effort to build back an economy that works for all of us — especially for the women of color who have borne the brunt of the COVID-19 pandemic. Investing in caregiving and related infrastructure at this critical moment for our nation will provide scaffolding for a more inclusive and resilient economy. NCJW believes everyone deserves economic security.
