- The issue: With the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade, abortion is now banned in six states with more states moving to restrict and ban abortion access. Those most harmed by abortion bans include women; Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC); those working to make ends meet; LGBTQ folks; immigrants; young people; those living in rural communities; and people with disabilities.
- The good news: The Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) would create a new tool for safeguarding access to high-quality care and securing constitutional rights by protecting patients and providers from this dangerous political interference and ensuring the right to abortion is codified into law.
- Our task: Call your senators and tell them to vote YES on WHPA. The bill has already passed twice in the House. Our rights can’t wait; we must restore federal protections for abortion now.
