2022 Get Out the Vote (GOTV) Calendar
NCJW members and supporters have encouraged voter engagement for decades by registering people to vote, educating communities on the issues we care about, strengthening and expanding voting rights, and getting out the vote on Election Day. Use the calendar and resources below to plan out your efforts between now and November 8, 2022.
Though there are many actions you can take and resources included below, the most important is ensuring your registration is up to date.
Check Your RegistrationNow through June 8, 2022
- Take action to strengthen and expand the right to vote
- Tell the Senate to pass the Freedom to Vote: John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
- Check your registration
- Use NCJW’s portal to check your voter registration or register to vote. You can also bring voter registration forms to all Section events and activities (check your state laws to ensure compliance). Share this flyer to get the word out about NCJW’s voter registration portal!
- Learn the landscape
- Educate yourself on both the laws protecting the right to vote and barriers to the ballot box, including accessibility challenges.
- Collaborate in your community
- Identify and partner with new or existing GOTV efforts in your community. Consider working with local chapters of the League of Women Voters, Common Cause, or NAACP, or local houses of worship.
- Share your passion for voting
- NCJW is partnering with Vote Forward to connect our advocates with potential voters across the country.
- Set your intention
- Get inspired by NCJW’s Judaism and Voting Resource as you plan your GOTV work.
- Prepare with the new “The Jewish imperative to Protect and Strengthen American Democracy” white paper to learn why this work is central to our Jewish community.
- Keep it non-partisan
- Review what you can and cannot do to GOTV as a 501(c)(3) organization.
June 8, 2022 – September 20, 2022
In addition to all the above:
- Consider voting early.
- Share information with your Section, network, and community about how to vote early, absentee, or by mail in your state.
- Get your voter ID ready
- NCJW & VoteRiders partnered on a one pager with information about Voter IDs.
- Partner with National Voter Registration Day
- National Voter Registration Day, a nonpartisan civic holiday celebrating our democracy, is on September 20, 2022. Plan a voter registration drive or volunteer at one to celebrate.
September 20 – November 7, 2022
In addition to all the above:
- Educate your community on the issues
- Organize a candidate forum and/or develop and disseminate a candidate questionnaire.
- Phonebank to GOTV
- Recruit, organize, and train volunteers — or be a volunteer — to phonebank to GOTV.
- Volunteer at the Polls
- NCJW is partnering with Power the Polls to recruit poll workers where they are most needed. Sign up here.
- Make a Plan to Vote
- Help people in your Section and/or network to make a plan to vote.
November 8, 2022: Election Day
- See something, say something
- If you observe issues or have questions at the polls, contact a nonpartisan voter protection hotline.
- Go vote!
- Wear your “I Voted” sticker with pride.
