"I want to express my extraordinary admiration … Somehow, NCJW has managed always to pick the item of the greatest importance for its activities, whether in the US or in Israel."
-- Golda Meir, former prime minister of Israel

NCJW's history of social action is based in its powerful grassroots network. Members all over the country courageously speak out when others are silent, taking a progressive stance on such issues as child welfare, women's rights, and reproductive freedom.

NCJW's action efforts are coordinated through its Washington office and a corps of trained volunteers -- the State Public Affairs (SPA) network. On a broader level, NCJW's action alert network broadcasts breaking news and legislative information on vital initiatives via email to enable instant action.

These efforts are complemented by NCJW's coalition work in Washington, DC, Israel, and across the US, making it an important partner and leader in collaborative work to effect public policy change on a wide range of domestic and international issues.
