NCJW's BenchMark Campaign Website Earns New Industry Honors

April 25, 2006, New York, NY -- For the second consecutive year, the National Council of Jewish Women's (NCJW's) BenchMark campaign website has been recognized by The Webby Awards, the leading international award for websites exhibiting remarkable achievement. Named as an Official Honoree, www.benchmarkcampaign.org is an interactive education and mobilization tool dedicated to BenchMark: NCJW's Campaign to Save Roe.

Hailed as the "Online Oscars" by Time Magazine, the Webby Awards honor excellence in Web design, creativity, usability, and functionality. Official Honorees are chosen by the International Academy of the Digital Arts and Sciences -- a 500-member body of leading web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries, and creative celebrities.

The 10th Annual Webby Awards received a record number of entries from over 40 countries and all 50 states. Of the over 5,500 entries submitted, fewer than 20 percent were deemed Official Honorees.

"Above all, this award indicates that www.benchmarkcampaign.org -- and the people behind it -- are forward-thinking, visionary, and most importantly, have a story to tell," said representatives from the award committee.

"I am so proud that the BenchMark website has been honored once again," said NCJW President Phyllis Snyder. "This recognition underscores the site's ongoing importance as an innovative and effective action tool. And this year, with the future of the Supreme Court at stake, the site was more powerful than ever -- complementing our grassroots efforts while educating, activating, and inspiring online supporters around the country."

Prior recognition of NCJW's powerful design and innovative communications strategies includes Communicators Awards, American Graphic Design Awards, and MarCom Creative Awards. The renowned brochure for BenchMark: NCJW's Campaign to Save Roe is also featured in the books The Design of Dissent (2005) and The Best of Brochure Design 8 (2005).

NCJW is a volunteer organization, inspired by Jewish values, that works to improve the quality of life for women, children, and families and to ensure individual rights and freedoms for all through its network of 90,000 members, supporters, and volunteers nationwide. It has launched BenchMark: NCJW's Campaign to Save Roe, a national effort to educate and mobilize NCJW members, the Jewish community, and friends and allies everywhere to promote a federal bench with judges that support fundamental freedoms, including a woman's right to choose.
