NCJW Wins Prestigious Communications Awards
April 11, 2006, New York, NY -- The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) has been recognized for its outstanding marketing and communications efforts by the prestigious 2006 Communicator Awards.
NCJW's flagship magazine, the NCJW Journal, won two awards. The Winter 2005 issue -- Crossing the Line Between Religion and State: Will Liberty Survive? -- received the competition's highest honor, the Communicator Award of Excellence. This award is reserved for those achieving the best in the communications field. The Summer 2005 issue -- Speaking Out on What's at Stake -- received the Communicator Award of Distinction, in recognition of its outstanding quality and overall excellence.
NCJW's website, www.ncjw.org -- which features the NCJW Action Center -- also received an Award of Distinction. And NCJW received an Honorable Mention for "Speaking Out in the Religion-State Debate," an op-ed that appeared in The New York Jewish Week.
The Communicator Awards is an international competition that recognizes superior communications strategies. Entries are judged by industry professionals based on quality, creativity, and resourcefulness. More than 5,000 entries from around the world competed for the 2006 Print Media Communicator Awards.
In response to the awards, NCJW President Phyllis Snyder said:
"NCJW uses cutting-edge communications strategies to build upon our legacy of speaking out for progressive social change. Whether we're advocating on behalf of religion-state separation, reproductive choice, or a humane immigration policy, our print and online efforts create synergy -- and unite us around the country -- to increase NCJW's impact in our communities, our state capitols, and in the halls of Congress. These awards prove that the NCJW Journal, website, and outreach efforts are doing just what we intended: mobilizing our grassroots, and inspiring and educating new audiences."
Prior recognition of NCJW's powerful design and innovative communications strategies includes past Communicators Awards, American Graphic Design Awards, MarCom Creative Awards, and a Webby Award. The renowned brochure for BenchMark: NCJW's Campaign to Save Roe is also featured in the books The Design of Dissent (2005) and The Best of Brochure Design 8 (2005).
NCJW is a volunteer organization, inspired by Jewish values, that works to improve the quality of life for women, children, and families and to ensure individual rights and freedoms for all through its network of 90,000 members, supporters, and volunteers nationwide.
