Stacy Kass Named Executive Director of NCJW

February 28, 2006, New York, NY -- The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) has announced the appointment of Stacy Kass as its executive director.

NCJW President Phyllis Snyder lauded Kass's appointment. "I am extremely pleased that Stacy will serve as executive director. NCJW gains its strength from the close volunteer-staff partnership that guides our efforts from top to bottom. Stacy has already played an integral role in that partnership for ten years. I am especially fortunate to have worked closely with her in her previous role as NCJW's acting executive director. And I have complete confidence in the unique skills and abilities she brings to the position. I look forward to working with her in her new capacity."

Ms. Kass responded by expressing her enthusiasm. "I have always been inspired by the importance of NCJW's work. This is even truer today -- a time when progressive values are being challenged as never before. I am particularly proud to lead NCJW's staff members at this pivotal time. We all stand ready to work with our volunteer partners to continue to achieve our critical mission in the important days ahead."

A life member of NCJW, Ms. Kass has devoted her working life to public service. She began her career in the nonprofit sector at the New York City Volunteer Corps and over the next ten years held positions in other nonprofit groups, most notably Girls Incorporated, Inc. (formerly Girls Clubs of America) and United Neighborhood Houses, the umbrella and support organization for settlement houses in New York City. She has worked at NCJW in various senior staff capacities, including acting executive director, for ten years.

A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany, Ms. Kass holds a master's degree in public administration from Baruch College and is also an alumna of the Coro Fellows Program in Public Affairs. She is a native New Yorker and lives with her husband and two daughters in Manhattan.

NCJW is a volunteer organization, inspired by Jewish values, that works to improve the quality of life for women, children, and families and to ensure individual rights and freedoms for all through its network of 90,000 members, supporters, and volunteers nationwide.
