• Forms the Port and Dock Department at the request of the federal government to help find homes and jobs for new immigrants. The department assists women arriving alone and provides a permanent immigration aid station on Ellis Island. A network of NCJW representatives assisting immigrant girls grew to cover 250 cities.
  • Provides job skills training to thousands of immigrant women.
  • Creates comprehensive services for the blind.
  • Launches a social legislation campaign to address low-income housing, child labor, public health, food and drug regulations, and civil rights.
  • Participates in the first White House Conference on Child Welfare, at the invitation of President Taft.
  • Sends Hannah G. Solomon with Susan B. Anthony to the International Council of Women in Berlin.
  • Establishes the Committee on Peace and Arbitration to study international tensions, recommend corrective measurements and lend support to the efforts of organizations to promote world peace.
