At NCJW’s 44th National Convention in Chicago in March 2008, more than three hundred participants were introduced to the Promote the Vote, Protect the Vote initiative. They watched a short film, heard from former NAACP Legal Defense Fund President Theodore Shaw about the importance of fair voting practices, and received copies of the Promote the Vote, Protect the Vote Resource Guide.

Since Convention, NCJW members across the country have made promoting and protecting the vote a priority this year. By organizing voter registration drives and town hall forums, and by working to defeat egregious state ballot initiatives, they will undoubtedly make a difference in their communities.
